RESUMO

The development of high-efficient and large-scale non-precious electrocatalysts to improve sluggish reaction kinetics plays a key role in enhancing electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) for ammonia production under mild condition. Herein, Fe3 O4 and Fe supported by porous carbon (denoted as Fe/Fe3 O4 /PC-800) composite with a high specific surface area of 1004.1 m2 g-1 was prepared via a simple template method. On one hand, the high surface area of Fe/Fe3 O4 /PC-800 provides a large area to enhance N2 adsorption and promote more protons and electrons to accelerate the reaction, thereby greatly improving the dynamics. On the other hand, mesoporous Fe/Fe3 O4 /PC-800 provides high electrochemically active surface area for promoting the occurrence of catalytic kinetics. As a result, Fe/Fe3 O4 /PC-800 exhibited significantly enhanced NRR performance with an ammonia yield of 31.15 µg h-1 mg-1 cat. and faraday efficiency of 22.26 % at -0.1 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE). This study is expected to provide a new strategy for the synthesis of catalysts with large specific area and pave the way for the foundational research in NRR.

RESUMO

Based on panel data from 285 Chinese prefecture-level cities from 2003 to 2020, this paper uses the difference-in-difference (DID) method to investigate the policy effect, mechanism, and heterogeneity of green finance (GF) to reduce environmental pollution. (1) Green finance has significant effect on reducing environmental pollution. The parallel trend test demonstrates that DID test results are valid. (2) Following a battery of robustness tests including instrumental variable, propensity score matching (PSM), variable substitution, and changing time-bandwidth, the conclusions are still valid. (3) Mechanism analysis reveals that green finance can reduce environmental pollution by increasing energy efficiency, adjusting industrial structure, and transforming green consumption. (4) Heterogeneity analysis proves that green finance has a substantial impact on reducing the environmental pollution in eastern and western cities, but not in central China. (5) In the "two-control zone" and "low-carbon pilot cities," the results of applying green finance policies are better, and a policy superposition effect exists. To be able to promote environmental pollution control, and green and sustainable development, this paper provides useful enlightenment for environmental pollution control for China and other similar countries.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the effects and mechanisms of copper transporter 1 (CTR1) in radiation induced intestinal injury in vitro. Methods:Human small intestinal epithelial cells (HIEC) were irradiated with 2, 4, 6, 8 Gy of X-rays and rat intestinal epithelial cells (IEC-6) were irradiated with 5, 10, 15, 20 Gy of X-rays. At 2, 4, 8, 24, and 48 h after irradiation, the expression of CTR1 was detected by Western blot assay. In some experiments, HIEC and IEC-6 cells were transfected with CTR1 shRNA and then exposed to X-rays. Copper levels were detected by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). The radiosensitivity of cells was verified by colonogenic assay, the cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) level and DNA damage were detected to further explore the related mechanism. In addition, Western blot was applied to detect the expressions of antioxidants and cuproptosis associated proteins in enterocytes after silencing CTR1 or irradiation. Results:The expression of CTR1 was increased by X-ray irradiation in a dose-dependent manner ( t=3.53, 3.45, 6.37, 11.11, 11.13, P<0.05). CTR1 expression was successfully diminished by CTR1 shRNA adenovirus vectors. According to the survival curves, the enhancement ratios of the radiosensitivity of HIEC and IEC-6 cells with CTR1 knocking-down were 1.146 and 1.201, respectively. Radiation-induced copper accumulation was alleviated after CTR1 silencing in IEC-6 cells ( t=3.10, P<0.05). At 0.5 h after irradiation, the ROS production in the CTR1 knockdown group was significantly lower than that in the control group ( t=5.23, 2.96, P<0.05). At 1 h after irradiation, the protein expression of γ-H2AX in the CTR1 knockdown group was obviously lower than that in the control group ( t=7.50, 4.29, P<0.05). The expressions of Nrf2 and HO-1 were increased after irradiation, which could be further increased after CTR1 silencing. In addition, cuproptosis associated protein DLAT, LIAS and FDX1 were reduced post-irradiation, which were recovered after CTR1 silencing. Conclusions:The radioresistance of HIEC and IEC-6 cells was enhanced after CTR1 silencing, possibly through the intracellular ROS and cuproptosis pathway.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE@#Depression and metabolic disorders have overlapping psychosocial and pathophysiological causes. Current research is focused on the possible role of adiponectin in regulating common biological mechanisms. Xiaoyao San (XYS), a classic Chinese medicine compound, has been widely used in the treatment of depression and can alleviate metabolic disorders such as lipid or glucose metabolism disorders. However, the ability of XYS to ameliorate depression-like behavior as well as metabolic dysfunction in mice and the underlying mechanisms are unclear.@*METHODS@#An in vivo animal model of depression was established by chronic social defeat stress (CSDS). XYS and fluoxetine were administered by gavage to the drug intervention group. Depression-like behaviors were analyzed by the social interaction test, open field test, forced swim test, and elevated plus maze test. Glucose levels were measured using the oral glucose tolerance test. The involvement of certain molecules was validated by immunofluorescence, histopathology, and Western blotting. In vitro, hypothalamic primary neurons were exposed to high glucose to induce neuronal damage, and the neuroprotective effect of XYS was evaluated by cell counting kit-8 assay. Immunofluorescence and Western blotting were used to evaluate the influences of XYS on adiponectin receptor 1 (AdipoR1), adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK), acetyl-coenzyme A carboxylase (ACC) and other related proteins.@*RESULTS@#XYS ameliorated CSDS-induced depression-like behaviors and glucose tolerance impairment in mice and increased the level of serum adiponectin. XYS also restored Nissl bodies in hypothalamic neurons in mice that exhibited depression-like behaviors and decreased the degree of neuronal morphological damage. In vivo and in vitro studies indicated that XYS increased the expression of AdipoR1 in hypothalamic neurons.@*CONCLUSION@#Adiponectin may be a key regulator linking depression and metabolic disorders; regulation of the hypothalamic AdipoR1/AMPK/ACC pathway plays an important role in treatment of depression by XYS.

RESUMO

Individual identification is one of the research hotspots in the practice of forensic science, and the judgment is usually built on the comparison of the unique biological characteristics of the individual, such as fingerprints, iris and DNA. With the dramatic increase in the number of cases related to video image investigations, there is an increasing need for the technology to identify individuals based on the macroscopic comparison of facial appearance biometrics. At present, with the introduction of computer three-dimensional (3D) modeling and 3D superimposition comparison technology, considerable progress has been made in individual identification methods based on macroscopic comparison of facial appearance biometrics. This paper reviews individual facial appearance biometric methods based on macroscopical comparison, comprehensively analyzes the advantages and limitations of different methods, and puts forward recommendations and prospects for subsequent research.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: To investigate the neuroprotective effect and mechanism of DL-3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) on the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)/tyrosine kinase B (TrkB) and its downstream signalling pathway after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury (CIRI) in rats. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion (MCAO/R) model was used. Reperfusion was performed 2 h after ischemia, and 20 mg/kg of NBP was intraperitoneally injected. Neurological defect score and pathological changes were performed. Apoptotic cells were detected using in situ end-labelling with TUNEL. The expression of BDNF and TrkB proteins was measured by Western blot and immunohistochemical staining. BDNF mRNA, TrkB mRNA, protein kinase B (AKT) mRNA and caspase-3 mRNA expression were measured using real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). RESULTS: After 24 h of reperfusion, the neurological defect score and the percentage of apoptotic cells in the ischemia/reperfusion group (I/R group) were higher than those in the ischemia/reperfusion + drug group (I/R + d group). The positive expressions of BDNF and TrkB mRNA and protein in the I/R + d group were obviously higher than those in the I/R group (p < 0.05). After intervention with the TrkB receptor inhibitor (K252a), the expression levels of BDNF and TrkB and AKT mRNA were significantly decreased in the ischemia/reperfusion + drug + TrkB receptor inhibitor group (I/R + d + R group) compared with the I/R + d group, however the caspase-3 mRNA expression level showed the reverse trend. The expressions of BDNF, TrkB and p-Akt proteins in the I/R + d group were remarkably higher than those in the I/R group at each time point, and reached the peak at 24 hours after reperfusion, which were earlier than that in the I/R group. CONCLUSIONS: Butylphthalide represents a neuroprotective effect after CIRI in rats and used within 24 h of early onset contributes to better prognosis. The underlying mechanism may be related to reducing the apoptosis of nerve cells through BDNF/TrkB signalling pathway.

RESUMO

Revealing the mechanisms underlying the intracellular calcium responses in vascular endothelial cells (VECs) induced by mechanical stimuli contributes to a better understanding for vascular diseases, including hypertension, atherosclerosis, and aneurysm. Combining with experimental measurement and Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation, we developed a mechanobiological model to investigate the intracellular [Ca2+] response in a single VEC being squeezed through narrow microfluidic channel. The time-dependent cellular surface tension dynamics was quantified throughout the squeezing process. In our model, the various Ca2+ signaling pathways activated by mechanical stimulation is fully considered. The simulation results of our model exhibited well agreement with our experimental results. By using the model, we theoretically explored the mechanism of the two-peak intracellular [Ca2+] response in single VEC being squeezed through narrow channel and made some testable predictions for guiding experiment in the future.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate epidemiological characteristics of measles cases and the influencing factors of transmission of measles among floating children in Shenzhen. Methods Descriptive study was conducted in data which were collected from the report system of statutory infectious diseases from 2016 to 2018 in Shenzhen. Case-control study was conducted between 89 cases and relative controls. Results A total of 108 measles cases in floating children were reported from 2016 to 2018, and the incidence trend showed a year-on-year decline( 2trend=68.35, P<0.001). Analysis showed that nosocomial exposure in 7 to 21 days ago(OR=7.80, 95% CI:3.51-17.35, P<0.001), having been to the crowded places(OR=3.37, 95% CI:1.52-7.47, P=0.002), having contact history of fever-rash patients(OR=4.57, 95% CI:1.41-14.84, P=0.007) were influencing factors of transmission of measles among floating children, and immunization at the prescribed time(OR=0.12, 95% CI:0.04-0.32, P<0.001) was a protective factor for measles. Conclusions Vaccination must be strengthened for floating children. Medical institutions should avoid becoming a key place for measles transmission, and need to strengthen health education.

RESUMO

Intracellular calcium dynamics plays an important role in the regulation of vascular endothelial cellular functions. In order to probe the intracellular calcium dynamic response under synergistic effect of wall shear stress (WSS) and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) signals, a novel microfluidic device, which provides the adherent vascular endothelial cells (VECs) on the bottom of microchannel with WSS signal alone, ATP signal alone, and different combinations of WSS and ATP signals, is proposed based upon the principles of fluid mechanics and mass transfer. The spatiotemporal profiles of extracellular ATP signals from numerical simulation and experiment studies validate the implementation of our design. The intracellular calcium dynamics of VECs in response to either WSS signal or ATP signal alone, and different combinations of WSS and ATP signals have been investigated. It is found that the synergistic effect of the WSS and ATP signals plays a more significant role in the signal transduction of VECs rather than that from either WSS signal or ATP signal alone. In particular, under the combined stimuli of WSS and ATP signals with different amplitudes and frequencies, the amplitudes and frequencies of the intracellular Ca2+ dynamic signals are observed to be closely related to the amplitudes and frequencies of WSS or ATP signals.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To examine personal and environmental contextual factors as mediators of functional disability on quality of life (QOL) in a sample of individuals with serious mental illness (SMI). METHODS: A cross-sectional analysis of 194 individuals with SMI (major depressive disorder = 38.1%; bipolar disorder = 35.6%; schizophrenia spectrum disorder = 25.8%) recruited from four psychosocial rehabilitation clubhouses was undertaken to test a multiple regression model assuming that personal (i.e., resilience, social competence, and disability acceptance) contextual factors and environmental (i.e., family support, support from friends, and support from significant others) contextual factors would mediate the relationship of functional disability on QOL. The bootstrap test for multiple mediators was then used to test for the significance of the indirect effects functional disability on QOL through the mediators. RESULTS: In the simple regression model, functional disability had a strong relationship with QOL; however, after introducing the potential mediators, its effect was significantly reduced indicating partial mediation effects. The final regression model yielded a large effect, accounting for 44% of the variance in QOL. Controlling for all other potential mediating factors, social competence, disability acceptance, family support, and support from friends were found to partially mediate the relationship between functional disability and QOL. Bias-corrected bootstrap procedure results further supported the mediation model. CONCLUSIONS: The findings from the study provide good support for the inclusion of person-environment contextual factors in conceptualizing the relationship between functional disability and QOL for individuals with SMI.

RESUMO

People with a chronic psychiatric disorder (CPD) have low employment rates worldwide. This multicenter retrospective cohort study examined the employment outcomes of an innovative in-house vocational training program for people with CPD in Taiwan and explored which program parameters significantly predicted outcomes. Data were retrieved from the records of 323 participants who completed the training program. Satisfactory employment rates were found at 1 (52.9%), 3 (60.4%), and 6 (65.6%) mo posttraining, and 38.7% of participants demonstrated high employment sustainability (employed throughout the first 6 mo posttraining). Three program parameters significantly predicted employment outcomes: (1) occupational therapists' pursuit of additional training or short-term apprenticeship pertinent to clients' job interests, (2) posttraining vocational counseling provided by community-based occupational therapists, and (3) the duration of 6 mo posttraining to allow clients to prepare for competitive employment. Occupational therapist-led in-house vocational training is a promising alternative to traditional vocational training for people with CPD.

RESUMO

The mechanism of Li-O2 batteries is based on the reactions of lithium ions and oxygen, which hold a theoretical higher energy density of approximately 3500 W h kg-1. In order to improve the practical specific capacity and cycling performance of Li-O2 batteries, a catalytically active mechanically robust air cathode is required. In this work, we synthesized a freestanding catalytic cathode with RuO2 decorated 3D web Co3O4 nanowires on nickel foam. When the specific capacity was limited at 500 mA h g-1, the RuO2-Co3O4/NiF had a stable cycling life of up to 122 times. The outstanding performance can be primarily attributed to the robust freestanding Co3O4 nanowires with RuO2 loading. The unique 3D web nanowire structure provides a large surface for Li2O2 growth and RuO2 nanoparticle loading, and the RuO2 nanoparticles help to promote the round trip deposition and decomposition of Li2O2, therefore enhancing the cycling behavior. This result indicates the superiority of RuO2-Co3O4/NiF as a freestanding highly efficient catalytic cathode for Li-O2 batteries.

RESUMO

Purpose The aim of this study was to evaluate the measurement structure of the Employers' Stigmatizing Attitudes Toward Cancer Survivors Scale (ESATPD-Cancer Scale). Methods A quantitative descriptive design using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). One hundred and seventy-seven Taiwanese human resources (HR) professionals participated in this study. Results EFA revealed a one-factor measurement structure accounting for 50% of the total variance. We conducted a CFA to confirm the one-factor structure; after two pairs of error terms were correlated, the re-specified model was found to fit the data adequately: χ2/df = 1.69, GFI = 0.97, CFI = 0.98, and RMSEA = 0.06. Internal consistency reliability coefficient (Cronbach's alpha) for the ESATPD-Cancer Scale was computed to be 0.80. In addition, stigmatizing attitudes were found to be negatively associated with HR professionals' willingness to hire cancer survivors. Conclusions The results of this study support a one-factor measurement structure for the ESATPD-Cancer Scale in a sample of HR professionals in Taiwan. Findings also support a relationship between ESATPD-Cancer Scale scores and HR professionals' willingness to hire cancer survivors, demonstrating support for the construct validity of the scale.

RESUMO

Tumor radiotherapy induces hematopoietic organ damage and reduces thrombocyte counts. Thrombocytopenia is a common disease. Some studies have shown that tRNA synthetase plays not only catalytic tRNA aminoacylation roles, but also functions similarly to cytokines. Recombinant human tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase with a mutated Y341A (rhTyrRS (Y341A)) promotes megakaryocyte migrate from bone marrow to peripheral blood. It would promote megakaryocytes in the lungs adhering to vascular endothelial cells and resulting in the platelet production. The purpose of this research was to investigate the efficacy of rhTyrRS (Y341A) as a therapy for thrombocytopenia and to explore its mechanism of action. We found platelet number was effectively increased by rhTyrRS (Y341A) via platelet count and reticulated platelets (RPs) flow cytometry. We also demonstrated radiation-induced thrombocytopenia could be prevented by rhTyrRS (Y341A). The results of immunohistochemistry and H&E staining showed the number of pulmonary mature megakaryocytes was significantly increased in rhTyrRS (Y341A) treated groups. In transgenic zebrafish larvae, confocal microscopy results showed rhTyrRS (Y341A) promoted the migration and adhesion of megakaryocytes. These results suggested that rhTyrRS (Y341A) promote megakaryocytes in bone marrow migrating to lungs through blood circulation. rhTyrRS (Y341A) may be an effective medicine which could be used to treat patients suffering from thrombocytopenia.

RESUMO

Accurate prediction of soil organic carbon (SOC) distribution is crucial for soil resources utilization and conservation, climate change adaptation, and ecosystem health. In this study, we selected a 1300 m×1700 m solonchak sampling area in northern Tarim Basin, Xinjiang, China, and collected a total of 144 soil samples (5-10 cm). The objectives of this study were to build a Baye-sian geostatistical model to predict SOC content, and to assess the performance of the Bayesian model for the prediction of SOC content by comparing with other three geostatistical approaches [ordinary kriging (OK), sequential Gaussian simulation (SGS), and inverse distance weighting (IDW)]. In the study area, soil organic carbon contents ranged from 1.59 to 9.30 g·kg-1 with a mean of 4.36 g·kg-1 and a standard deviation of 1.62 g·kg-1. Sample semivariogram was best fitted by an exponential model with the ratio of nugget to sill being 0.57. By using the Bayesian geostatistical approach, we generated the SOC content map, and obtained the prediction variance, upper 95% and lower 95% of SOC contents, which were then used to evaluate the prediction uncertainty. Bayesian geostatistical approach performed better than that of the OK, SGS and IDW, demonstrating the advantages of Bayesian approach in SOC prediction.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the clinical value of continuity nursing model in caring patients with malignant obstructive jaundice treated with percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD).Methods A total of 120 patients with malignant obstructive jaundice treated by PTCD were enrolled in this study. The patients were divided into the control group (n=60) and the observation group (n=60).Routine discharge guidance and health education was conducted for the patients of control group, while for the patients of observation group,in addition to conventional discharge education, the continuity nursing was executed by the responsible nurse.Continuity nursing was meant to continue the service,to guide the observation of the wound and dressing change, the observation of the quantity and quality of drainage solution,to teach the knowledge of the management of PTCD catheter as well as its complications,to guide patient's diet and rest, and to establish the continuity nursing records. Results The patients of both groups were followed up for 3 months. The patients' awareness rate of the knowledge related to PTCD tube in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group. The wound infection rate, the rate of PTCD tube prolapse or blockage, and the tube-related re-hospitalization rate in the observation group were strikingly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The continuity nursing model can significantly improve patients' awareness rate about the knowledge related to PTCD tube, reduce the incidences of biliary tract infection,PTCD tube prolapse or blockage, wound infection, and tube-related re-hospitalization,therefore,the quality of life can be surely improved.
